The following is a rundown of family activities for the week of Dec. 8-14:

Friday

Cookies with Mrs. Claus and the Elves -- 4-7 p.m., Scheel's, 2960 Pine Lake Road. Decorate cookies, face painting, photos with Mrs. Claus.

IndiExplore -- 10-11 a.m., Indigo Bridge Books, 701 P St. "Musical Petting Zoo" with special guests Harris Academy of the Arts. Music exploration session based on their Kindermusik program. Free.

Family movie night -- "The Polar Express," 6 p.m., Trinity United Methodist Church, 7130 Kentwell Lane. Wear your pajamas, bring a sleeping bag, pillow and blanket. Bring a treat to share. A craft project is included. Open to the public.

Saturday

Breakfast with Santa -- 8-11 a.m., Atrium of the Candy Factory, between Seventh and Eighth streets on P Street. Breakfast catered by Lazlo's, coffee from The Mill, holiday music by pianist Dorothy Applebee, pictures with Santa, visit Santa's sleigh and reindeer, toy trains, entertainment by Elf friends from The Haymarket Theatre. $6/ages 4 and older, free for ages 3 and younger. Tickets may be purchased at door as available.

Bilingual story time -- 10-11 a.m., Indigo Bridge Books, 701 P St. Book: "Happy Hanukkah, Curious George."

"Olaf's Frozen Adventure" story time -- 11 a.m., Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 5150 O St. and SouthPointe Pavilions locations. Free.

Christmas on the Farm -- 1-5 p.m. Saturdays-Sundays through Dec. 28, Wessels Living History Farm, York. 402-710-0682.

Christmas in Wonderland -- 2-4 p.m., The Rabbit Hole Bakery, 800 Q St. Family-friendly cookie decorating event. $5/person, includes two sugar cookies and buttercream icing for decorating and a mug of peppermint hot cocoa. Decorating tools provided. First-come, first-served, limited to 30.

Family movie night: "An American Tail" -- 5-7 p.m., The Black Cat House, 1601 B St. Free, open to public.

Holiday on Ice -- Star City Figure Skating Club members and special guest Santa Claus, 5:30 p.m., John Breslow Ice Hockey Center, 433 V St. $7/person, ages four and younger/free.

Sunday

GrinchFest 2017 -- annual fundraiser for Food Bank of Lincoln, 8:30 and 9 a.m. (doors open 8 a.m.), Lincoln Grand Theater, 1101 P St. Movies: "Home Alone" and "Elf." Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Admission is a donation of four non-perishable food items per person. Seating is limited.

Lincoln Elks Lodge #80 annual Children's Christmas Party -- noon-5 p.m., Pinnacle Bank Arena, west Haymarket. Doors open at noon, entertainment at 1 p.m. and Santa arrives at 2 p.m. Each child receives a free goodie bag. Free to all youth.

Historic Ferguson House holiday tour -- 1-5 p.m., 700 S. 16th St. Free.

Winter Wonderland story times -- 1:30 p.m., Eisley Branch Library; 4 p.m. Bennett Martin Public Library. Free.

Nebraska state tree lighting and carol sing -- 2-3 p.m.; music prelude, 1:30 p.m., Nebraska State Capitol, enter at south entrance (H Street). Free.

Holiday Ice Showcase -- Star City Figure Skating Club outdoor program, 5 p.m., Railyard Ice Rink, Canopy Street. Free.

World Wide Candle Lighting Day -- for those who have experienced the death of a child, their family and friends, 6:45 p.m., Bryan College of Health Sciences, 5035 Everett St.
