Walter 'Dutch' Krogman was born in 1926 in Johnson to Charles and Anna Krogman. A graduate of Johnson HS in 1943, Dutch was the pitcher for the York Braves and the Cornhusker baseball leagues. A hardworking man even early in life, he went on to serve his country for many years in both World War II and the Korean War notably aboard the USS Hector from '51-'52 and the USS Hollister from 1945-47 during WWII.
A man of many talents, Dutch was ever ready to use them to help anyone that needed it. His life was an example of honesty and integrity with a great love for his family and his country. The world has lost a great man, a father, a kind and generous man whose easy going warmth made him many friends through his life as a successful business owner of Krogman Tile, lifetime member of American Legion #3 and an admiral of the Nebraska Navy.
Walter is survived by his children: Cheri Erickson (Dale McClure), Doug (Sue) Krogman, Chuck (Lori) Krogman; grandchildren Kelly (Jesse) Morris, Craig Erickson (Tina Gomez), Kipp Erickson, Dawn (Mike Boyer) Arnold, Dustin Krogman, Matt (Lorena) Moser, Kerri (Jay) Merkel, Jessica (Travis) Hillman, Brian Krogman; 17 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Eudice Krogman, his parents, and his sister and brother-in-law, Leo and Lydia McCabe.
A visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday and a graveside service at 11 a.m. Friday, December 8, all at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
