After high school he joined the US Navy in 1948 and served one year active duty and then six years in the reserves. After serving in the Navy he began his career with Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph Co where he held numerous positions and retired as an area manager after 40 years, in 1989 He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cribbage along with making cribbage boards for his friends and family, collecting telephone insulators, listening to music, reading and visiting with neighbors. He had a great sense of humor and was always joking around. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survived by wife of 70 years, Janice (Betz) Hibbert; daughters, Rhonda (Joe) Heiserman, Lonnie (Paul) Larson, Peggy Cooper and Jeanne Hibbert (Dan Fette); grandchildren, Justin Wilhelm, Jeremy (Erin) Wilhelm and Gina Fette; great-grandchildren, Makenna, Tessa and Jasper Wilhelm; sister Dixie (Leon) Stuertz and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Mabel Hibbert.
