Rodrick Alan Halsted, 66, of Lincoln, passed away Nov. 22, 2017. Born Feb. 28, 1951, in Lincoln, son of William and Oretha (Littlejohn) Halsted. Graduated from Lincoln High School in 1969 and obtained a bachelor's degree from Hamilton College. Rod worked for Lincoln Telephone/ Windstream Communications and was a union steward for the Communication Workers of America Local 7470.
Following retirement he worked in the human services field. He served as a CASA volunteer, and volunteer for Special Olympics. He was past president of Telephone Pioneers Association, and member of Capitol City Footprinters. Rod enjoyed spending time with family, especially his young granddaughters; watching sports; and bowling.
Survivors include his sons, Nick (Lisa) Halsted; Arron (Kayla) Halsted; granddaughters, Morgan and Andersyn Halsted, all of Lincoln; sisters, Barb (Bob) Christner of Mt. Ayr, Iowa; Laura Sheldon of Lincoln; Bev (Steve) Baltensperger of Nebraska City; brothers, Steve (Pat); Brad (partner Andrea Shemek) of Lincoln; many nieces and nephews. Rod was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Scott Sheldon and nephew, Brian Christner.
