Donald O. Pieper, 70, Friend, died Wednesday (3/3/10) in Friend. Born 10/9/1939, York. Attended York Public Schools and graduated in 1957 Seward Concordia High School, 1967 graduate Peru State College, 1975 Masters Degree University of Nebraska, Veteran US Army 1961-1964 Member Dorchester American Legion. Former teacher, coach and principal at Clarks, Centennial, Friend and Axtell Public Schools. Former School Superintendent, Fairmont, Cedar Rapids and Dorchester Public Schools.

Survived by wife, Connie, Friend; daughter, son-in-law, Raina Pieper-Volkmer and James Volkmer, Sherwood, Ore.; son, daughter-in-law, Tyler and Jennifer Pieper, Omaha; grandchildren, Abigail, Joseph, Evan Volkmer, Sherwood, Ore., Karlie, Cole, Cade Pieper, Omaha; brothers, sisters-in-law, twin brother Darald and Barbara Pieper, Lansing, Ill., Roger and Elaine Pieper, Lincoln, Glen and Laura Pieper, DeWitt; aunts, Mildred Kath, DeWitt, Dorothy Sackschewsky, Thayer; father-in-law, mother-in-law, Wally and Barbara Bean, Inavale; sister-in-law, brother-in-law, Marla and Tim Teegerstrom, Stromsburg; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, Stan and Pam Bean, Johnstown, Ohio, Bill and Elaine Bean, Lindsborg, Kan.; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents; granddaughter, Greer Elizabeth Volkmer; two uncles.

Memorial service, 10:30 a.m., Monday, (3/8/10), Friend Christian Assembly, Friend, Pastor Jerry Gill. Family burial, Andrew Cemetery, Friend. Cremation, no viewing, register book available Sunday 1 - 4 p.m., Lauber-Moore Funeral Home, Friend. Family gathering to greet family and friends 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday at Friend Christian Assembly.
