Marlene Vivian Taylor, 84, of Lincoln, died on Saturday, May 12, 2018. She was born in Baileyville, Kansas, to Arthur and Ruth (Thomas) Dick on May 30, 1933. Marlene married Lloyd V. Taylor on March 24, 1950, and they made their home in Lincoln. Marlene enjoyed a lengthy nursing career serving in private practice for J.M. Stemper, M.D., as well as both Bryan and St. Elizabeth Hospitals from time to time. She was well known for her beautiful flowers and greeting many passersby with a friendly smile. She was talented in crocheting and arts and crafts. She loved cooking for her family and found it difficult to pass up a garage sale. Marlene was a devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Church and served with the Legion of Saint Mary.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd V. Taylor and her parents. Marlene is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Bea Taylor of Lincoln; grandchildren Julie Atkinson (Sean Akers), Michelle Taylor and Matthew Taylor; great grandchildren Jordan and Garrett Atkinson, Brittney Larson, Alexa and Morgan Taylor, Seth Taylor; great-great granddaughter Taylor Atkinson, all of Lincoln and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 11 am to 6 pm with family present from 4-6 pm. on Thursday, May 17, at Wyuka Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, May 18, with burial to follow at Wyuka Cemetery. Memorials may be left to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Lincoln.
