Stanley R. Kaltenberger, age 82, of Lincoln, passed away on August 15, 2013. He was born on June 16, 1931 in Lincoln to Andrew and Amelia Kaltenberger. Stan met Leona McCord in June 1954 and they were married on May 7, 1955. Stan was a machinist for CB&Q and Burlington Northern railroads for a combined 44 years. He loved sports and spent his summers playing and managing AAA Fast Pitch Softball. Later in life, Stan especially enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren's activities. He was super proud of their three children and seven grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Leona; daughter, Joni (Jeff) Thompson of Centennial, Colo.; son, Douglas (Susan) Kaltenberger of Lincoln; daughter, Kelli (Archie) Schoonover of Lincoln; grandchildren, Lauren and Jacob Thompson, Jessica, Megan, and David Kaltenberger, and Daniel and Kristina Schoonover; brother, Roger (Pat) Kaltenberger; brother, Andy (Hazel) Kaltenberger; and several nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Elsie Krajicek.
Services will be at 10 am Monday, August 19, at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S. 14th St. Visitation will be from 4-6 pm Sunday, August 18, at the funeral home. Memorials in Stanley's name can be given to the American Diabetes Association. Condolences may be left online at www.lincolnfh.com.
