Donald F. Chvatal, 83, of Malmo, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the Fremont Area Medical Center. Don was born March 4, 1930 in Prague to Martin and Mary (Ladenburger) Chvatal. In 1951, Don was united in marriage to Norma Benal. Don worked for over 26 years at the University of Nebraska Field Lab in Mead as a maintenance foreman and he also farmed most of his life. Don was a hardworking farmer that will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Don is survived by his wife of 61 years, Norma; children, Laurie Bier of Omaha, Jim (Diann) Chvatal of Wahoo, Kenny (Denise) Chvatal of Wahoo, Mike (Mariechen) Chvatal of Wahoo, Bob (Missy) Chvatal of Wahoo, Dave (Colleen) Chvatal of Malmo; 25 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Clayre Sabatka of Wahoo; several other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by parents, Martin and Mary Chvatal; sister, Adeline Stuchlik; brother, Bernard Chvatal; infant brother, Martin Chvatal; great-grandson, Trey Taylor.
Mass of Christian burial: 10 a.m. Monday (5/20) at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Colon. Visitation: 5-7 p.m. with 7 p.m. rosary, Sunday, all at church. Interment at St. Francis Cemetery, Wahoo.
