Garrett Vanderbeek, 88, died at the Gold Crest Retirement Center in Adams on Sunday afternoon (10/03/04). He was born on April 4, 1916, in rural Adams, and attended country school. He was married to Alberta L. Rathe on March 9, 1944, in rural Sterling, and they lived and farmed in the Adams area until moving into Adams in 1988. He was a member of the Pella Reformed Church of rural Adams. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and family gatherings.
