Sen. Rob Clements of Elmwood, who was appointed to the Legislature by Gov. Pete Ricketts in February, filed Wednesday as a 2018 candidate for a four-year legislative term.
"The people of Legislative District 2 deserve a leader with real-world experience in building a business and helping others succeed," Clements said.
Clements, a banker, said he is committed to "fiscal responsibility and the drive to help grow a more prosperous state."
In the upcoming legislative session, he said, he would focus especially on tax relief.
Born and raised in Elmwood, Clements is executive vice president of the American Exchange Bank, a fifth-generation, family-operated community bank.
