Sen. Brett Lindstrom of Omaha said Monday he will seek re-election to a second term next year.

Lindstrom, who represents the 18th District in northwest Omaha, will officially announce his candidacy at an event in Omaha on Tuesday.

Lindstrom is chairman of the Legislature's Banking, Commerce and Insurance Committee.

During his first three years in the Legislature, Lindstrom said, he has worked to "reduce government waste and protect Nebraska taxpayer dollars" while helping achieve government reforms.

Lindstrom is a Republican; the Nebraska Legislature is nonpartisan.
