With a late fundraising start, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Bob Krist lagged far behind Republican Gov. Pete Ricketts in this week's campaign finance reports filed with the Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission.

Krist, an Omaha state senator, raised about $53,000 during the reporting period and had about $27,000 in cash on hand April 10.

Ricketts raised $589,000 during the reporting period and had nearly $1.7 million cash on hand.

The governor's campaign fund included a $930,000 personal loan from Ricketts.

Krist has said his campaign fundraising was delayed by his change in political parties from Republican to Democratic.
