The Lincoln Journal Star is seeking an ambitious, self-starting journalist to help direct news gathering and lead our print and online platforms each weekend.
The weekend content coordinator reports to the deputy news editor and works with editors, reporters, photographers, an online desk, and a regional design center with the goal of producing and featuring our very best work in print and at JournalStar.com.
The weekend news editor also supervises the Journal Star’s internship program. Past interns have gone on to work for the New York Times, Washington Post and Seattle Times.
Candidates should come prepared to take ownership of our online and print news presence each weekend — reaching and appealing to a rapidly growing digital audience and helping to craft a dynamic Sunday newspaper.
The weekend news editor is generally assigned to 10-hour shifts, working Thursday through Sunday.
Lincoln is a growing capital city, and the Journal Star is in the middle of the action. Lincoln has strong K-12 schools, a Big Ten university and cultural and recreational options.
The Journal Star offers an excellent benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, a 401(k) plan and paid time off. All applicants considered must pass a post-offer drug screen, background and DMV check prior to commencing employment. EOE.
