The Lincoln Journal Star is seeking an ambitious, self-starting journalist to help direct news gathering and lead our print and online platforms each evening.
The night editor supervises a universal desk of copy editors who work with a regional design center to produce news and sports pages.
The night editor also works with reporters, photographers, an online desk and editors with the goal of producing and featuring our very best work in print and at JournalStar.com.
Candidates should come prepared to take ownership of our online and print news presence each evening — reaching and appealing to a rapidly growing digital audience and helping to craft a dynamic daily newspaper.
The night editor reports to the deputy news editor and is generally assigned to work Monday through Friday.
Lincoln is a growing capital city, and the Journal Star is in the middle of the action. We’re just blocks from a 15,000-seat downtown arena and a burgeoning entertainment district with bars, restaurants and music venues. Lincoln is also a hub on the Silicon Prairie, with dozens of software startups.
Lincoln has strong K-12 schools, a Big Ten university and cultural and recreational options.
The Journal Star offers an excellent benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, a 401(k) plan and paid time off. All applicants considered must pass a post-offer drug screen, background and DMV check prior to commencing employment. EOE.
