In May 2017, 10 University of Nebraska-Lincoln photojournalism students traveled to Uganda to produce multimedia stories.

Eight photo stories are being featured this spring in an exhibit at the Midwestern African Museum of Art, Culture and Resource Center, 1935 Q St.

The museum will display photos from the Uganda trip through May. Students will be on hand at 6 p.m. on Feb. 23 to discuss the project and show videos produced after their trip.

Donations are appreciated and will be divided between the museum and its efforts supporting local refugees as well as organizations helping subjects in the students’ stories. Nonprofit donor acknowledgement letters are available.

The Global Eyewitness photojournalism program was funded by an endowment allowing students to travel to international and domestic locations to produce multimedia pieces about people in need.

Featured photographers include Adam Warner, Alyssa Mae, Cahner Olson, Emma McMinn, Gabriella Parsons, James Wooldridge, Merika Andrade, Tess Williams and Tyler Schank. An award-winning story was reported by Marcella Mercer. Special thanks to Howard Buffett, Joel Sartore, Thomas Mangelson, Michael Farrell and Bruce Thorson for making the project possible.
