My “best of" art in Lincoln in 2017 includes museum shows, group and solo gallery exhibitions, a performance-and-exhibition combination and a monumental sculpture.
They were chosen from more than 100 shows and exhibitions I saw over the year in Lincoln, where the art scene continues to be the most vital and prolific in the region.
The list starts with a pair of shows tied at No. 1 — “Now’s The Time,” a conventional painting and sculpture exhibition at Sheldon Museum of Art, and “Book of Spells,” a multi-disciplinary collaboration from the duo The Afield at Fiendish Plots. The differences between the shows were so vast that choosing one over the other was impossible.
