Chief meteorologist Luke Dorris is leaving KLKN-TV, and the station is bringing back Dean Wysocki, its first weatherman, to replace him.

Dorris is moving to WPLG-TV in Miami, according to KLKN general manager Roger Moody. Miami is the nation's 16th largest Nielsen TV market, while Lincoln-Kearney-Hastings ranks No. 105.

Wysocki will begin later this week, while Dorris' final day has not been determined, Moody said.

Dorris joined the Lincoln ABC affiliate in June 2010 and became chief meteorologist in 2012.

"The time has come for the next chapter in my career, and I will soon be moving into a new role, forecasting drastically different weather," Dorris said in a news release. "I will greatly miss this town, this state, and the challenges of covering Nebraska weather."

Wysocki became KLKN's first chief meteorologist when the station took to the air in 1996. He left in April 2001 following a contract dispute. Wysocki also worked at television stations in North Platte, Omaha, Waterloo, Iowa, Minneapolis and, most recently, in Phoenix.

“It's funny how things sometimes come full circle in life,” Wysocki said in a news release. “I look forward to rejoining the Channel 8 KLKN-TV staff, as I've always considered Nebraska home."
