Lincoln's Samantha "Sammie" Ware will transition from the stage to the small screen after landing a role on the hit Fox comedy "Glee."
Internet magazine TVLine reported that Ware, a 2009 Lincoln North Star graduate, will play one of five new kids to join New Directions, the featured glee club at an Ohio high school.
"Glee" begins its sixth and final season at 7 p.m. Jan. 9 on Time Warner Cable channels 9, 18 and 1018.
According to TVLine, Ware will portray Jane, a righteous, ambitious and unconventionally pretty gal, who's funny because she doesn't have much of a sense of humor. She wanted to be a Warbler, but tradition kept her from joining — so she jumps ship to the New Directions.
Known for her powerful, booming voice, Ware comes to "Glee" after stage stints in the national touring production of "The Book of Mormon" and on Broadway in "The Lion King."
Her Lincoln theater resume included productions at the Lincoln Community Playhouse (“High School Musical II,” “Hairspray”) and Pinewood Bowl (“Cats,” “Footloose”).
