Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra, Maestro Edward Polochick, Executive Director Barbara Zach Lee and LSO staff members hosted a dinner party in the Lied Center Commons area April 6 to celebrate Lincoln's Symphony Guild’s 60th year of supporting LSO.
An estimated 75 Guild members, spouses and friends of the Symphony attended the event. Throughout its 60 years, the Guild has coordinated many fundraisers to support the LSO. Some of the special events were the Headdress Balls, very elaborate Galas, Lincoln Show Home Tours, and spectacular events at the Hruza and Broer homes. There were also many luncheon events with fashion shows and guest speakers.
Many special events for Guild members have been scheduled throughout this year of the Guild’s diamond anniversary.
The Guild has had 31 presidents in its 60-year history. Those present to celebrate the anniversary were current president Lilly Larsen and past presidents Margaret Griesen, Kathy Friedman, Marjorie Wyant, Lynette Byrnes, Diana Warner, Shalla Young, Min Minnehan and Lynette Boyce.
After the dinner, the Lincoln Youth Symphony performed with the LSO. The performance included the classic Beethoven Overture to Fidelio, Opus 72; and Beethoven Symphony No. 8 in F major, Opus 93.
