Halloween is one of the few times a year when celebrating throughout the weekend doesn't mean you're reverting back to your third year of college.

To help you embrace what the holiday has to offer, we've compiled a list of Halloween-related events. Take a look. From music to drinks to costume contests, there's bound to be a treat for everybody.

Friday night

* Academy Of Rock Halloween Show featuring Doppleganger, Master Attack Plan, Johnny #5 & the Water Cannon, FM Party and Dodging Bullets

Where: Midwest Music Center, 6209 Havelock Ave.

When: 6 to 9 p.m.

Admission: $5

Why Check it out: You'll get to hear some of Lincoln's up-and-coming music scenesters. Plus, it gives you an excuse to break out the costume a day early.

* Devil's Night featuring Soup of the Damned, Psycho 78, Velawsa Rapture, Dirty Talker, Wooden Coat, Man's Last Great Invention, Fulcrum, Mwmbles, Diamond Kazzoo and Megaherbs

Where: Bourbon Theatre, 1415 O St.

When: 7 p.m.

Admission: $5, 18+

Why Check it out: It won't get more eclectic than this. Bands ranging from thrash to bluegrass will trade off in the front lobby and the big stage all night. All proceeds go to KZUM community radio.

Saturday

* Heaven and Hell Party

Where: Red 9, 322 S. Ninth St.

When: Doors open at 6 p.m.

Admission: Free before 8 p.m., $10 after, 21+

Why Check it Out: Produced by Lincoln's Four5 Productions, this bash promises to have one of the more "let's party" atmospheres of the night. Just a guess, but you'll probably run into a few angels and devils while you're there.

*Halloween at the Bourbon Theatre featuring The Show Is The Rainbow, $pencelove, Life of a Scarecrow, Awesome New Republic, Bentone and Ol Moanin' Corpse

Where: Bourbon Theatre, 1415 O St.

When: 8 p.m.

Admission: $8, 18-20, $6, 21+

Why Check it out: Dancing, music and a costume contest. Need we say more? Probably not, other than usual man-and-computer combo of The Show Is The Rainbow will perform with a live band for the first time in a long time.

* Marz Bar presents Alice in Wonderland

Where: Marz Bar, 1140 O St.

When: 10 p.m.

Admission: No cover, 21+

Why Check it out: The always-stylish Marz is going all-out with its Alice in Wonderland theme. Plan on great drinks, creative decorations and maybe, if you're lucky, the Cheshire Cat serving drinks.
