The Lincoln Airport had its best month in more than two years in April.

Passenger numbers were up 5 percent overall during the month compared with April 2017. That was highest year-over-year monthly increase since February 2016.

The increase was led by Delta Airlines, which saw its traffic surge 12 percent compared with a year ago. That more than offset a 3 percent year-over-year drop for United Airlines.

Commercial airline traffic was up 3 percent, and a large increase in charter traffic resulted in the overall 5 percent gain.

Passenger traffic for the year remains down 4 percent.
