Air Canada on Wednesday announced an expansion of flights to several American cities, including Omaha.
Canada's largest airline said it will start year-round daily service to Toronto from Eppley Airfield in Omaha on May 1. The once-daily flight will be on a 50-seat regional jet.
It is the first-ever international commercial flight at Eppley, which nonetheless does have U.S. Customs facilities and already can receive flights directly from other countries.
The Air Canada flight will add Toronto to a growing list of cities with direct air service from Omaha. Within the past two years, Eppley has added service to Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Portland, Oregon. Within the next few months, it also is adding service to Philadelphia, Tampa and a couple other cities in Florida.
