Genesis Health Clubs will close an existing Lincoln location and move into the recently acquired Lincoln Athletic Club this week.

The company will close the gym at 1801 Pine Lake Road, but existing members will have full access to facilities at the Lincoln Athletic Club on Monday.

The Lincoln Athletic Club, formerly the Lincoln Racquet Club, includes 88,000 square feet of space at 5300 Old Cheney Road, including multiple fitness areas, an indoor track, basketball court, indoor and outdoor pools, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, racquetball courts, steam rooms, a hot tub, massage therapy center and tanning rooms.

Todd Mosser purchased the Lincoln Athletic Club in 2011. It opened in 1972 as a strictly tennis facility.

“I’ve had a wonderful career in this industry and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to turn over my legacy to Genesis Health Clubs," Mosser said in a news release. "They’re true professionals and I know they’ll take care of our members.”

Genesis operates 44 locations across the country and has another Lincoln location near the Gateway Mall.

Genesis Health Clubs owner and president Rodney Steven said he looks forward to expanding amenities and improving an already great location.

Genesis, based in Wichita, Kansas, added the Pine Lake Road and Gateway Mall locations in 2016 as part of an acquisition of Gold's Gyms across the Midwest.

The Pine Lake Road location originally opened as Aspen Athletic Club in 2012.
