The new Super Saver under construction in Fallbrook in northwest Lincoln will offer an added convenience when it opens next year: gasoline.
When the store originally was announced, there was no mention of a gas station.
"They (the pumps) had been considered early on but not finalized until the process was under way," said Marty Jarvis, director of marketing for B&R Stores Inc., the owner of Super Saver.
None of the other Super Savers in Lincoln has gas pumps, although Jarvis said the Super Saver in Millard does. Two Russ's Markets in Lincoln also have gas pumps.
Having gas pumps at grocery stores has been a growing trend in Lincoln. The two newest Hy-Vee stores, at 50th and O streets and 84th and Holdrege streets, offer gas, as do both the Sam's Clubs in town.
The 60,000-square-foot Super Saver is expected to be open by early to mid-February, Jarvis said. In addition to the gas station, it will have a bakery, floral department, spirits department, full-service delicatessen with outdoor seating, bank and drive-up pharmacy.
It will employ approximately 150 people.
