Omaha, The Weitz Company is pleased to announce Senior Vice President Chris Harrison has been named the company's Nebraska local office leader. In addition, the company recently moved to a new building constructed and owned by Weitz, at 8715 South 121st Street in LaVista.
Harrison, who has been with the company since 1987, has extensive experience in project and construction management. The company appointed him to the Nebraska position in May 2012. Previously, Harrison spent eight years as the senior vice president of business development for Weitz Iowa.
"I'm looking forward to learning more about the Omaha community and becoming involved in its many educational, cultural and social activities," Harrison said. "Our family has been warmly welcomed and we are quickly becoming acclimated to our new surroundings."
While with Weitz Iowa in Des Moines, Harrison was a board member and secretary for Habitat for Humanity, a board member for Junior Achievement, and for the Cement Masons Apprenticeship Local 21. He served as vice president of the Valley High School Band Boosters and was a board member of the Dallas County Alliance.
Harrison is a board member of the Sarpy County Economic Development Corporation and is a member of the 2012-13 class of the Omaha Executive Institute. He is a graduate of Iowa State University with degrees in civil engineering and construction engineering.
Current and future Weitz Nebraska projects in Nebraska and Kansas include Gateway Senior Living in Lincoln, Vetter Senior Living projects in Columbus and St. Paul, and in Elfindale, Kan., Immanuel Communities projects in Papillion and Omaha, Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan., Countryside Homes in Madison, and Walsh and Mercy Halls at the College of St. Mary in Omaha.
The Weitz Company has been a Nebraska general contractor since the 1980s. The company established an Omaha construction office in 1990.
