NET Earns 12 Eric Sevareid Awards NET, Nebraska's PBS & NPR Stations, earned 12 Eric Sevareid Awards for excellence in radio and television news from the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association.
For radio, NET received three first place awards: "At This Shooting Match, Old West Aficionados Play Cowboy" for soft feature; "Return to Victory Boxing" for sports reporting; and "Speaking of Nebraska" for talk/public affairs. Four awards of merit included: "Nebraska Basketball Referee Has Earned His Stripes" for sports reporting; "Historic Michigan Oil Spill And Nebraska's Keystone XL Pipeline Debate" for investigative reporting; "Sold for Sex" for social media; and "Sold for Sex: Trafficking in Nebraska" for series.
For television, NET earned two first place awards for "After Ebola: Nebraska and the Next Pandemic" for documentary/special and "Eclipse in the Heartland" for team multimedia storytelling. Three awards of merit included: "Big Red Wrap-Up: Iowa Recap" for sportscast/program; "Nebraska's Unique Habitats" for team multimedia storytelling; and "Speaking of Nebraska" for talk/public affairs.
