Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers has finally filed a building permit for its second Lincoln location at about 30th Street and Yankee Hill Road, on the east edge of the Wilderness Hills shopping center.

The first Freddy's opened Jan. 1 near 48th and Van Dorn streets. Last summer, when he announced plans for the 48th and Van Dorn store, local franchisee Ron Oberg said he hoped to have a second one open near 27th and Yankee Hill by February or March. I'm going to guess starting construction this month means opening in October or November.

The Doughnut Hole filed a building permit a few weeks ago for a new location at 5600 S. 48th St., which is the strip mall on the southeast corner of 48th and Nebraska 2.

It would be the pastry shop's third location, but there is speculation that the Railyard spot may close after its lease is up now that the business withdrew its request to get a liquor license.
