Dr. John's

The owners of Doctor John's recently bought the former Economy Lodge and Suites, and moved its retail store into the former motel office and lobby area. Now another adult bookstore, Romantix, plans to move in Doctor John's old location.

Apparently, 2929 N.W. 12th St. is seen as a prime site for selling adult novelties.

Doctor John's moved out of the space a few months ago to take over an old hotel just a couple of blocks away.

Now, according to a building permit filed last week, Romantix will be moving into the space. The permit, filed Friday, calls for $100,000 worth of interior renovations to the space.

Romantix is the company that owned the downtown adult bookstore near Ninth and O streets that burned down in December 2010. Romantix relocated that location to a former Taco Inn near 10th and High streets in 2011.
