McFarland & Sons will become the Watering Hole in early October.

Since people are probably going to need to do a lot of drinking this Husker season, it's a good time for an update on the Haymarket bar scene.

McFarland & Sons, the Irish pub on P Street between Seventh and Eighth streets that's across the street from the other Irish pub, will cease to be an Irish pub after Oct. 4. It will close that day, and two days later it will reopen as The Watering Hole.

A restaurant and bar called Screamers Dining & Cabaret  is coming to 803 Q St. Its Facebook page describes it as, "A new restaurant concept coming to Lincoln, NE. Inspired by UNL's The Scarlet & Cream Singers. With singing servers, great food and exceptional service."

A building permit for the space was just filed this week, so it will probably be at least a few weeks before it opens.
