Class A

Millard North recovered nicely from a district upset loss to Papillion-La Vista with state tournament wins over No. 4 Bellevue East and No. 7 Kearney. Marian gets a three-spot promotion for its district final win over Lincoln East. The Spartans’ 15-point win at Kearney early in the season keeps East ahead of the Bearcats. Millard South remains at No. 10 over Papillion-La Vista based on its regular season win over the Monarchs.

Class BLike Millard North, Pius X benefited greatly from the newly added third place games at state. The Thunderbolts were able to erase a district final loss to Beatrice with wins over No. 4 Elkhorn and No. 6 Holdrege. Elkhorn is rewarded for its first-round win over Seward. Even though the Bluejays fell to Holdrege in the Central Conference Tournament in January, a strong February keeps Seward ahead of the Dusters. Seward beat No. 3 Pius X and posted two wins over No. 7 Crete in the three weeks leading up to state. Gretna’s near-upset of South Sioux City in the first round at state and its win over Omaha Gross in the district finals pops the Dragons into the top 10. Beatrice was 0-2 against Gross this season, so No. 10 is the best the Lady Orange can do after its win over Pius X in districts.

Class C-1

Milford vaults up four spots for its win over Fairbury in the subdistrict finals, while Hershey re-appears in the final top 10 for its subdistrict win over Kearney Catholic. Columbus Scotus exits for losing to Boone Central in the first round of subdistricts. With no clear-cut No. 10 team, Twin River (a loser to unranked Columbus Lakeview in the sub-district final) gets the nod based on the final wild-card point standings.

Class C-2

Ravenna didn’t make the state tournament, but the Bluejays get promoted for a win over Grand Island Central Catholic in the subdistrict. Elmwood-Murdock gets knocked down three spots for losing to Malcolm in the subdistrict final.

Class D-1

Arapahoe’s first-round win at state over Humphrey St. Francis was worth a four-spot jump for the Warriors. With subdistricts and districts being very turbulent in this class, Lawrence-Nelson, Meridian and Hay Springs move into the ratings simply for making the state tournament. Previous No. 5 Silver Lake slips for a loss to Kenesaw. Eustis-Farnam, No. 6 last time, lost in overtime to Hay Springs in the district final.

Class D-2

Sioux County made it to state, but slides two spots for a subdistrict setback to Potter-Dix. It’s a tough call who should be No. 2 behind Ewing since Falls City Sacred Heart and Pleasanton both beat Chambers and lost to Ewing at state. Sacred Heart’s No. 1 ranking coming into state and the fact the Irish were ahead of Pleasanton in the wild-card standings provides the tiebreaker.

" Pleasanton is only 3rd? Are you punking me? What a joke. I guess you don't care what goes on, ON the court. "

" Pretty sure Fall City Sacred Heart won the THIRD place trophy. "

" I can't believe you put two teams ahead of Kearney that got beat in the first round of state..and put a team ahead of Kearney that didn't even go to state. Sure Kearney got beat by Lincoln East, but that was the 4th game of the season. Kearney would have loved to have another chance to play Lin. East and Southeast for that matter. You need to give outstate teams some credit! We are not tall...but we play big and a lot of heart. Shame on you. "

" Jayne I dont think ant team could have beaten lse this weekend. Whats you think Kearney could when you lost to
MW and lse spanked them. You had a great year and should be rated higher I agree! See you next year! "

" So made up rankings before the tournament make a team go to second place even though Pleasanton loses by one point in the finals. You couldn't make more of an argument for a 1-2 finish in the finals if you tried. "
