NWU Athletic Hall of Fame to get 6 new members

Six new members will join the Nebraska Wesleyan Athletic Hall of Fame on ceremonies Saturday on the NWU campus.

New members are:

* Jay Hehnke (1986), a top football and baseball player who earned three-time all-conference honors and helped the Plainsmen win a share of the 1983 NIAC title. He was a four-year starter on the baseball team with a career .336 batting average, was a four-time member of the all-conference first team and helped NWU to NIAC titles in 1983, 1984 and 1985.

* Paige Losey (1994), a three-year starting softball pitcher, who set a number of team records. Named first-team all-conference and all-NAIA District 11 twice, and was named NAIA National Scholar Athlete.

* John Ross (1985), a top distance runner with all-time marks in the 4x800 relay and the 10,000 run. Helped NWU to conference championships and won seven conference titles himself. Was two-time All-American.

* John Strain (1976), a strong center on the basketball team who finished as the sixth-best scorer in school history and eighth-best rebounder. Coached high school basketball at Lincoln East.

* Spirit of Plainsman Award winners: Michael Behrens (1994) and Mark Behrens (1995), who helped with many athletic events throughout the years at NWU.
