ASHLAND — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host an open house for the Nebraska Ordnance Plant Superfund site near Mead Thursday at the Ashland VFW Hall, 4-8 p.m.

During World War II and the Korean War, bombs, shells and rockets were assembled at the 17,250-acre site in Saunders County, resulting in extensive soil and groundwater pollution.

Those who attend the meeting can pick up brochures, visit displays and talk with representatives from the Corps and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency about clean-up efforts.
