OMAHA — A second man accused in the murder of a 6-year-old Omaha girl has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.

Michael Coleman had faced a charge of first-degree murder in the Oct. 5 shooting of Alazia Alford. The 20-year-old pleaded guilty Thursday to a felony charge of being an accessory to second-degree murder.

Alazia died at the Nebraska Medical Center after being shot in north Omaha. Two other people were shot but their injuries were not life-threatening.

Earlier this month, 15-year-old Jordan Goodwin was convicted of murder in the girl’s death. He was the youngest defendant in Douglas County history to be tried as an adult.

Coleman’s sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 6. He faces up to 20 years in prison.
