“Washington special interests already have their candidate,” AFL-CIO President Ken Mass of Omaha said.

“Now Nebraska’s working families have theirs,” Mass said.

The union represents 48,000 workers across the state.

The endorsement is scheduled to be formally announced today at a news conference in Omaha.

Meanwhile, the Kleeb campaign announced it will begin airing its first general election TV ads Friday during opening ceremonies for the Olympic Games.

The ads will air in the Omaha, Lincoln, Hastings, Kearney, North Platte and Sioux City markets.

" I have never understood why all unions endorse the Dems. The unions fight for higher pay and then support the guys who want to take it away in taxes... And dont belive that the Unions arent special interest they are all based in D.C. "

" where you find unions, you dont find low wages, NO benefits, and illegal immigrant slave workers. this is one special interest that needs a big comeback in our state. Leave those million dollar CEO's quivering. You rock, Mr. Kleeb!! "

" Unions support candidates who support and fight for the working class. Wake up and do your research and learn history of the labor movement. Actually, not all International Unions are based in D.C. Under Johanns, the working class suffered. Tax breaks went to big businesses and he treated his own workers, state employees, with NO RESPECT AT ALL! No, I am not a state employee, but we need someone who will respect the working class and fight for those that are not rich. That will be Scott Kleeb.! "

" Republican presidents cut taxes and then states have to raise them to make up for the lost programs. Not to mention the fact that Republican cut taxes by borrowing endless amounts from countries like China, and then they still have the nerve to run around calling us the richest country in the world. Bah! The world is snickering at us. "

" No intelligent life here. In all seriousness, Kleeb is just too boring and the excitement surrounding Mike "The Changeling" Johanns campaign is overwhelming Kleeb. Give up! "

" The dems want to take it away in taxes? The Republicans continue on their record spending and record debt. You can't keep up the tax cut mantra and continue the record spending. Someone, sometime, will have to pay this debt off. Unfortunately, it will have to be paid with taxes. I have never taken a loan out with the intention of never paying it off. How can the Bushies do it? Even Mike Bushanns is a supporter of Pay Go. "

" Scott and the Dems have to consider the power of voter registration and early voting with this population. Shift workers have a tough time getting to the polls so to make the endorsement work, another more difficult step has to be taken. "

" 'the working class?' you mean like in contrast to those on welfare and social security, right? "
