Avenged Sevenfold and Buckcherry will co-head a fall tour that’s scheduled to stop at Pershing Center on Sept. 22.

The tour will coincide with the relases of “Live in the LBC” and “Diamonds in the Rough,” a live DVD/CD package from Avenged Sevenfold, according to a release from Reprise Records, the band’s label. Buckcherry also has a new album, titled “Black Butterfly” scheduled for release in September, according to the band’s website.

Avenged Sevenfold and Buckcherry will alternate as headliners on the tour that will also include openers Shinedown and Saving Abel.

Avenged Sevenfold is a Southern California band that has moved from post-hardcore toward metal and now a more mainstream hard rock sound over its near decade of existence. It acheived mainstream success with 2005’s “City of Evil,” its first gold record.

Buckcherry is an L.A. band that rose to popularity with its version of Sunset Strip metal in the late ‘90s, broke up in 2002 then reformed behind singer Josh Todd and guitarist Keith Nelson in 2005.

Tickets for the show go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Pershing box office and all Ticketmaster locations, at ticketmaster.com and by phone at (402) 475-1212.  All tickets to the general admission show are $35.

Poison and Sebastian Bach are scheduled to perform at Pershing on Aug. 20. Tickets for that show are now on sale.

" Good work Pershing. Nice to see they are still trying to get events in there with the new arena ideas looming. Trying to go out with a bang are ya? "

" these are exatly the type of concerts the new arena will draw. B list acts all the time. Yeah we really need a new arena(sarcasm). I hope you people who want a new arena actually pay attention to this. "

" I wouldn't exactly call A7X B-List entertainment by any means. They've sold a ton of albums and would be a great show. Just because they're not The Eagles or Eric Clapton doesn't mean they aren't talented. Also Buckcherry is nationally know as well as Saving Abel being an up-and-coming talent. I bet a lot of people from the Kearney/Grand Island/Omaha area will come to the show and spend some $ here. Isn't that the whole idea anyways? Or maybe these bands are too mainstream for you little indie hipsters? If so go check out www.diehipster.com for some good reading. "

Spoken like someone who has never listened to any of the bands on the ticket...this is not that 'emo' crap that passes off as music these days. If you don't know anything about the bands, don't say anything...really, just be quiet.

I also don't get the whole "B list" comment. There are a lot of commercial successes out there that make absolutely horrible music...just about every 'boy band' ever conceived comes to mind. These bands have a lot of great musicians...but I feel I'm wasting my time trying to explain this to someone who spends their day listening to 102.7 or 106.3. "

Last time I checked music was an art form. Just because you don't appreciate it doesn't make it's not worth bringing to Lincoln for people who do enjoy it to listen to. If you don't like B list acts maybe we should bring in the superbly talented Miley Cyrus or maybe Chingy. These chart toppers have alot more to offer. "

B List wrote on July 22, 2008 3:15 pm:
" I wouldn't call either of these bands "A-List" or "B-List" but they are modern rock. "Get used to it Lincoln" I don't think Yawnee or Kenny G is coming to Lincoln anytime soon but these bands are the bands that get play on The Blaze which is the number #1 radio station in this market for males 16-37 or something like that. Wre the people that spend money on concerts and we are who the new arena is being built for and R. just because you are out of touch with what is popular at the university and with people who like to go out and have fun doesn't mean you should say these bands are geared toward misunderstood youth because you think you were better than that at that age. "

to all... wrote on July 22, 2008 3:18 pm:
" im not ripping on the music. I know these are good bands, but lets face it they will not even come close to selling out Pershing. So all of you really think these guys would be good for the new arena? Whether you want to admit it or not these are B list acts (get real, I know they are talented but they won't sell Pershing out therefore they are B-list acts). All I am saying is this is the kind of acts that will always play Lincoln and to see larger acts we will always have to go to KC or omaha so it is totally pointless to build a new arena. Make sense now? "

If you people honestly wrote on July 22, 2008 3:22 pm:
" think acts like this will make the new arena succeed you need to get a clue! Im not taking digs at these bands (heck I listen to them!) but these acts will not drive in the money or crowds the new arena will need. Admit it. You obviously have no clue on how these things work so stop acting like you do. "

R. wrote on July 22, 2008 3:32 pm:
" To be honest, I did listen to both of these bands when I was in High School. I did a lot of other dumb stuff in High School too. Honestly, how 'angry' can these bands stay year after year. I don't buy it. And I agree, Emo is terrible. "

" they have an accordian in the band? I would like to have the lawrence welk band come to pershing. When glenn miller was killed I was heartbroken. Maybe if it helps the lincoln economy I might go to this show. "

Seeing the look on the face of the 107.3/102.7 crowd when Buckcherry plays any song besides "Sorry": Priceless "

New Arena wrote on July 22, 2008 4:56 pm:
" "Get use to it lincoln", it's small, closed minded people like yourself that don't see the big picture in business. The so called "A-List" bands/acts that do concerts, WANT to come to Lincoln. We just don't have a venue big enough. All the "A-List" bands that go to Omaha, want to come to Lincoln FIRST, because of the college and the college students. But unfortunately get turned away due to a lack of big venue. Call the Chamber of Commerce and ask them whom they've had to turn away due to lack of venue, you'd be surprised. I applaud Pershing for doing the good work they do with the facility they have. "

" If you think A-list acts want to go KC>Lincoln>Omaha you are just plain crazy. Just because you think Lincoln is great doesn't mean they do. They don't sell the tickets they do out west or out east so they want to get out of here as soon as possible. I seriously cannot believe people think they would do that. Bands will never stop here before or after Omaha, get it in your head. Go to ticketmaster and look up any touring act that is A-list most of them skip over parts of the midwest and go straight to Denver or KC. Get a clue, this will always be the type of concerts Lincoln will draugh. I don't mind driving 45 mins to go to Omaha to see a show(I use to have to drive that long to get to work), big deal. "

" Great bands do play Lincoln. It is the corporate folks at CheapChannel Broadcasting telling you what is an "A" list group where the fallacy lies.
G.Love, Black Flag, Los Straightjackets, Rev. Horton Heat, Red Hot Chili Peppers have all played incredible shows in Lincoln. Check out a list of influential performers that have swung through Knickerbockers, the Zoo, the Drumstick(r.i.p.), Duffys and other local haunts. Hearing 1 or 2 tracks on KSUX or the Blaze does not make a group "A" list. Hell the Grateful Dead had no "hits" (Touch of Gray doesn't count) but are legends. "Support local music" KZUM in Lincoln, KRCW.com (from LA) "

Oh yes there is.... wrote on July 23, 2008 3:55 pm:
" We DO have a venue for A-list acts. It's called the Devaney Center. I have seen numerous acts there BEFORE they decided NOT to have shows there. For whatever reason. Garth Brooks, The Judds, even Def Leppard. Big name groups DON'T want to come to Lincoln because they are regulated to DEATH by the city council.

Just ask Ron White. Wh was CITED for SMOKING on stage!!!!! get a grip Lincoln....that's why it's called ENTERTAINMENT!!!!

So we have to settle for the likes of Joan Rivers....who is second rate comedy at her VERY best. "

wow..... wrote on July 24, 2008 12:50 pm:
" and people think we need a new arena. I went to moe. last night in Omaha at the Whiskey Roadhouse. Now that is music!! I almost want to the new arena to be built so people who think it is a good idea will see it fail miserably. How many business do you really think a 8,000 seat arena will support? Get a clue people nobody wants to play here if they can play in Omaha. "

megan the librarian wrote on July 24, 2008 5:51 pm:
" obviously several of the commentors on here have no idea what they are talking about and just await the opportunities to put their negative two cents in on a lincoln journal star article. Ax7 sold out sokol both times they played in omaha in the last several years. As for the comment as how much more "angry" can their music get, i think you have stereotyped a mix on genres and missed the point completely. Listen to something other than a top 40 hit or something that is actually music. "

to megan.... wrote on July 25, 2008 9:42 am:
" thanks for proving my point. Exactly they sold out Sokol! Wow that place holds 800 people tops! And now they are playing at Pershing where they hold 7,000. Now do you see why the arena is a terrible idea? Because they get bands that will never sell a large arena out. "they sold out Sokol". Thanks for my daily laugh. "

megan the librarian wrote on July 25, 2008 10:25 am:
" they both also sold are relatively quickly so the true statistics of how many people would have went can't be determined. You also fail look into other venues they have played in and the string of sell out shows they have played. Yes venues bigger than sokol. And I believe they have headlined many summer festivals, that bring in large amounts of people, much more than even pershing can hold. I saw them mainstage at ozzfest a few years back- many thousands of people at that one. And before you once again respond with a comment as to how their are many other bands that bring peole out to festivals, it is true but there are several good bands with this one also. Unfortunately, this venue may not sell out but it will not see a meager showing. Go ahead, have your daily laugh at your own comments. Heck, go to the concert why not check out the atmosphere, listen to the music, and check the numbers before you make judgements. "

C List Acts wrote on July 30, 2008 5:54 pm:
" 311 played at pershing and they only filled half of the place, and they are from here and they are better than these bands, at least they've been around longer.

If Fall Out Boy can sell out the Mid America Center, I'm sure these guys could do some kind of damage. They are better than them, that's for sure. "
