Saltdogs alone in first place
By the Lincoln Journal Star
Shawn McGill hit two two-run homers and Matt Maloney homered once as the Saltdogs finished a sweep of St. Paul with a 6-3 win Sunday at Haymarket Park.
After the Saints took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, Jonny Kaplan tied it with an RBI groudout in the home half of the inning. After Dustin Yount walked, McGill hit a two-run home run to put Lincoln ahead.
Maloney hit a solo shot in the third to give Lincoln a 4-1 lead. Later that same inning, McGill hit his second two-run blast.
Lincoln starter Jason Jarvis improved to 3-6, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out six in seven innings.
The Saltdogs enter the all-star break on a three-game winning streak and alone in first place in the Northern Division's second-half standings.
