3½ stars

Scottish pub-rockers The Fratellis are a big deal in England, but their biggest success here has been getting their song “Flathead” in an iPod commercial last year. They’re back with a second album, and it’s more of the same good-time rock ’n’ roll, played with a sense of humor and devil-may-care attitude.

The Fratellis haven’t reinvented the wheel — and they’re getting unfairly slagged for that in some quarters. What they have done is add lots of piano this time around and come up with some memorable tunes, including the swaggering “Mistress Mabel” and the ultra-fun “Lupe Brown.” This one’s a perfect summertime record — not a lot of depth, but plenty of fun.
