Elm Creek voters face bond measure
By The Associated Press
ELM CREEK — Elm Creek voters will decide next month whether to raise their taxes for a new secondary school.
The school board has scheduled a special election Sept. 9 to consider the $5.9 million bond issue.
The money would pay for building 34,000 to 36,000 square feet of space east of the current school. The district would have to buy and demolish four residences that stand in the way.
Waiting until the November election would delay imposition of the tax increase. Officials say the delay would cost the district an extra $200,000 to $300,000 in bond interest.
