KEARNEY — Hundreds of classic cars and thousands of people will descend on Kearney over the next few days for the 21st Anniversary Cruise Nite.

The event kicked off Thursday with a barbecue and car show and continues Friday.

The event wraps up Sunday with a “Hot Rod Reunion” and drag races at the Kearney Raceway Park.

The headline event, the “Show and Shine” car show, is set for Saturday, and a parade of cars will cruise down Kearney’s main street, Central Avenue, later in the afternoon.

" I cruised Central Blvd. many times while going to Kearney State. A brick street only around six blocks long. Was mostly high school kids and us college boys going to Buffalo Chips for a beer. "
