Strowbridge headed to Jacksonville State
Former Nebraska guard Jay-R Strowbridge said Thursday he’s signing with Jacksonville State in Jacksonville, Ala.
Strowbridge, a 5-foot-11 guard from Ardmore, Ala., announced at the end of last season he was transferring, citing family issues.
“I just felt the most comfortable at Jacksonville State, and it’s not that far away from home,” Strowbridge said in a phone interview.
Strowbridge said he’s had a strong relationship with Jacksonville State assistant Antoine Pettway, a former player at Alabama. James Green was hired as head coach in April. Jacksonville State, 7-22 last season, is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference.
Strowbridge must sit out this season under NCAA transfer rules. He’ll have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Strowbridge is one of two scholarship underclassmen who left Nebraska after last season. Shang Ping transferred to Division II Emporia State (Kan).
