Two men were arrested late Friday in connection with an attempted robbery at Perkins, 121 N. 48th St., earlier that day.

Donald L. Coleman, 21, of 217 C. St. and Randall S. Anthony, 23, were both arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery after witness information made them suspects in the case, Lincoln Police Capt. Anthony Butler said.

A man wearing a dark hoodie pulled over his head and a bandanna covering his face came into the Perkins at 3:04 a.m. and told the manager to open the cash register, Officer Katie Flood said.

The manager told the man she had to go to the office to get a key, Flood said. When she was in the office, she called police. The suspect realized what the manager was doing and forced her out of the office, Flood said.

The man fired one shot from a black semiautomatic handgun toward the dining area before leaving on foot, Flood said. No one was injured, and the suspect did not get any money. Some of the diners saw what was going on, and police received several calls from people during the incident.

Police were also investigating a possible connection between that incident and similar one at Pizza Hut, 2662 Cornhusker Highway, later that morning.
