A rosary service has been set for 7 p.m. Sunday for Mary Brake, a Lincoln Realtor who was swept into a creek in Colorado on Friday and is presumed drowned.

The service will be at Lincoln’s St. Joseph Catholic Church, 7900 Trendwood Drive, said family friend Scott Stewart.

A funeral Mass is set Monday at 10:30 a.m., with Monsignor Liam M. Barr the celebrant.

An interview with Gene Brake

An interview with Gene Brake, who lost his wife, Mary, last Friday while vacationing in Colorado. Gene speaks about his wife, her impact on the Lincol...

Stewart said some of Brake’s family went with a Catholic priest in Vail to put a statue of the Virgin Mary at the site where she and her husband, Gene, and their 9-year-old daughter, Bayley, were riding on horseback when the horse she was riding slipped and fell into the water.

Brake and the horse were carried off by waters rushing as fast as 44,900 gallons per minute, as reported by the Denver Post.

The search was suspended indefinitely on Monday, as authorities in Eagle County, Colo., waited for the creek’s level to recede.

In Lincoln, Stewart said family has established the Mary Elizabeth Brake Memorial Fund in her honor. Those wishing to make a donation can do so by sending it in care of the Pius X Foundation, 6000 A St., Lincoln, 68510.

" I had the honor of working for one of the many organizations where Mary served on the Board of Directors. She was always professional, prepared, kind, generous and friendly. I looked forward to seeing her and always felt that she cared for our mission and for each of the people who worked at the organization. What a lovely woman! She inspired me as a woman and as a mother. "

" Several years ago, Mary Brake came into my life in a professional capacity during the process of selling my home shortly after my divorce. She quickly became more than 'the realtor' with her warmth, strength, caring nature and quick smile. Even after the real estate transaction was complete, Mary kept in touch, making sure I knew she was just a call away. Although I moved out of state several years ago, I have often shared warm memories of my 'therapist-realtor'. I was stunned and deeply saddened when I received the news via email from a dear friend about this tragic event. Mary will always be a ray of sunshine in my memory, God bless her family in this difficult time. "
