Brush fire spreads to neighbor's barn
By the Lincoln Journal Star
Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner said a Walton man ignored a pile of brush he was burning in his yard Sunday evening — even after the fire spread to his neighbor’s barn.
Kim May, 55, had a burn permit, but he wasn’t paying attention to a burning pile of brush — he was mowing, Wagner said.
May continued to mow after his neighbor’s barn started on fire, Wagner said.
Someone else called 911, but the barn was destroyed, for a loss of about $1,000, Wagner said.
May was cited on suspicion of violating a burn permit.
