Class A Pvs

1. Papillion-La Vista (35-4) 2

2. Lincoln Southwest (29-12) 3

3. Omaha Westside (24-11) 8

4. Papillion-La Vista South (36-3) 1

5. Omaha Marian (22-12) 7

6. Millard North (22-12) 4

7. Millard South (19-15) -

8. Lincoln East (27-13) 5

9.  Lincoln Southeast (29-15) 6

10. Lincoln North Star (21-18) 9

Comments: Papillion-La Vista returns to the top spot after being ranked No. 1 in the preseason. Lincoln Southwest had a good showing at state with wins against then No. 1-ranked Papio South and Omaha Westside to open the tournament. Despite being No. 1 entering state both seasons, the Titans have not advanced to the final day the last two seasons.  Omaha Westide jumps five spots because of its district performance against Lincoln Southeast as well as close state tournament games against Southwest.  Lincoln East, Southeast and North Star all fall but remain ranked.

Class B Pvs

1. Elkhorn (23-1)  1

2. Beatrice (29-7) 3

3. Ralston (26-8) 5

4. Blair (26-8) 2

5. Seward (19-7) 4

6. McCook (26-6) 7

7. Omaha Gross (18-12) 6

8. Omaha Skutt (21-14) -

9. Columbus Lakeview (20-6) 9

10. Hastings (19-10) 10

Comments: Norris drops out after finishing 0-2 in district play with losses to Lincoln Pius X and Fairbury. Omaha Skutt moves in based on its close district tournament play. Columbus Lakeview’s two district losses were to Elkhorn and Blair, thus keeping them ahead of state tournament participant Hastings.

Class C  Pvs

1. Tekamah-Herman (29-9) 4

2. Wayne (27-7) 7

3. Milford (23-5) 1

4. Syracuse (22-10) 5

5. Bennington (27-10) 6

6. O’Neill (22-6) 9

7. Bishop Neumann (19-13) -

8. Twin River (25-6) 2

9. West Point CC (20-8) 8

10. Centennial (20-15) -

Comments: Again, the biggest changes occur in Class C because of several upsets in district and state tournament play. Wayne gained after its marathon 12-inning loss to Tekamah-Herman in the championship game.  Twin River tumbles after district losses to Wayne and O’Neill. First-year team O’Neill moves up despite going 0-2 at state as its losses were to eventual champ Tekamah-Herman and then No. 1-ranked Milford. Bishop Neumann jumps into the ratings based on its performance at districts and a state tournament opening-round upset of Milford. Centennial earns the No. 10 nod despite a district championship loss to Milford, largely because of its 1-0 extra inning, defeat of then-No. 10 Central City.

" Nice rankings - How does a class C team drop four spots after losing to #2 and #4 in class B and beats the #3 and #7 team in class C by a combined 11 runs? "

" What is the love affair with Marian? They beat Papio once, otherwise there wins are against unranked teams (most with a losing record. After their BIG win against Papio, they lost to Millard West in spite of 5 errors by the Wildcats. Bellevue West being ranked at all is almost as laughable. "

" How can Lincoln East move up in the Class A ratings after losing to class b Elkhorn and class c Milford? Milford beats Lincoln East and loses to Elkhorn and drops down in Class C? "

" yea, East lost to North Star, but everyone is looking over the fact that 2 of their runs were off error "

" Get your facts straight. Millard South didn't lose three games this weekend. They lost to Lincoln Southwest and Westside. They have played every team in the top 9 except LSE, beat LNS twice, split with Marian, beat East, and beat Papio South - on Papio South's home field. They lost to Papio 1-0 in 9 innings on Monday. Nice to see you reward so many teams who don't play anybody! "

" Truth, very well said about the Millard South team. This has to be a joke by the Lincoln Journal Star sports writer. He must of been the same guy to have Nebraska 42 Ball State 3 Here is how I see it... Westside will take A-1 district Marion will take A-2 district Papio Lavista will take A-3 district Papio South will take A-4 district Millard South will take A-5 district Millard North will take A-6 district and the A-7 District is just a joke. "

" Who cares if East lost to North Star because of errors, it is still a loss, get over it. That is part of the game. I have watched tons of games this summer, I don't even have a daughter that plays anymore and I can't believe the crying and yelling East and Southwest parents do when their team is behind, everything is the umpires fault... that is until they are winning then all the terrible calls against the other teams are okay. "

" Answer to the question about the short Blonde Wahoo Shortstop from 2006. I heard she is up playing at Wayne State. I am very glad she is done in high school because it was her plays last year that beat us twice. We were finally able to beat Wahoo this year. I bet they will be fighting for their distric championship this year. "

" Hmm...Lincoln East is 5th in Class A? Milford beat them twice this year. However, Elkhorn was ranked 6th for several weeks, which may explain the reason behind the ratings. Elkhorn will dominate the state tournament. "

" They called her "Bear". All I know is that she played a heck of a lot bigger than she was physically. Wahoo needed her this year in districts as a leader and play maker. Us Bluejays are not sorry to see her gone. Seemed like she was a Warrior FOR EVER!! "

" Millard West played one of the toughest schedules this year in high school softball and received no respect for their schedule. By the looks of their schedule they played right with the best all season long. They hung right with PL during district play. Congrats to the Wildcats on a fine season. "

" hey, i just wanna congratulate all of the teams that made it to state this year! it was our team's first time ever making it to state and it was really awesome! nice job to papio lavista, elkhorn, and tekamah herman! you guys did awesome! those tekamah-wayne games must've been crazy! wish i could've been there to watch! but nice job everyone on an awesome season! "

" The District and State games showed these rankings were a joke. Try looking at something other than wins and losses next time. Millard South & Millard West probably played the toughest schedules with no credit given. Yet the Lincoln schools excluding Southwest played laughable schedules. Also, Bellevue West and Marian each played about 15 teams with losing records. Start following softball more closely and give it the respect it deserves. "

" Regarding Class B final rankings: how can Omaha Gross finish above Omaha Skutt when Skutt posted more wins with a similar schedule and wins against Gross in every meeting? "

" RG are you kidding me. LSW cancelled game 2 of a DH with Papio South, and played more class B teams than anyone in Lincoln. Look at the schedules again. Congrats to LNS and LSE on great seasons. The other two couldn't even win their district because they weren't used to playing tough games and winning when they need to. "

" Congrats to the BN Lady Cavs. What a great way to end the season with a trip to state. You girls deserved it!! I am sure everyone was thinking - "If I ever expected a Neumann team to go to state - it wasn't this one!!" You showed em! You were a team - you were focused!! Everyone should learn a lesson from you ladies. "

" After a slow start, Logan View owns wins over #1 TH, #2 Wayne, #7 Neumann, #8 Twin River, #9 WPCC (in districts), and Class B #9 Lakeview. Should have been a spot for them. "

" RG are you kidding me? What is your fascination with Millard West? If they were as good a team you think they are, it would have showed. Marian deserves all the respect they are given, they played a very tough schedule and there record was actually 26-9 with 8 of the losses to top ranked teams. They didn't make it to the Metro Championship on being a laughable team and they hung with Papio South all 3 times they played them, losing to them with all Papio South's runs being unearned. So they being ranked is laughable? I think not. "
