Five first-team Super-State players headline the South team for the 2008 Shrine Bowl game.

The game, which will be the 50th anniversary game, will be at 6:30 p.m. July 26 at Nebraska’s Memorial Stadium.

First-team Super-Staters Rustin Drink and Brett Maher of Kearney, Kenny Anderson of Millard West, Chris Griffin of Omaha Central and Trent Goodman of Omaha Westside will play for head coach Bob Fuller of Plattsmouth on the South squad. Sam Meginnis and Michael Yardley of Lincoln East are two of the seven second-team Super-Staters on the team.

The North will feature first-team Super-State players Colin and Conor McDermott of Creighton Prep and Nick Neneman of Omaha North. Zach Klapperich of Lincoln North Star and Jake Cervantes and Tyson Greve of Lincoln Northeast will also play for head coach Jeff Tomlin of Grand Island.

None of the five Nebraska scholarship players from the state — John Levorson of Crete, Sean Fisher of Millard North, Baker Steinkuhler of Lincoln Southwest, Collins Okafor of Omaha Westside and Michael Kreikemeier of West Point Central Catholic — are playing in the game. Fisher said it was a personal choice and not one dictated by the Husker coaching staff.
