A former licensed practical nurse from Waverly entered a plea agreement Thursday for possessing painkillers meant for patients.

Jacqueline "Jacki" Spoor, 50, pleaded no contest to one charge of possession of a controlled substance (morphine, oxycodone and propoxyphene).

In exchange, Deputy Lancaster County Attorney Lory Pasold dismissed two other charges and agreed not to file any additional charges for the incident.

According to Pasold, sheriff’s deputies were called to Spoor’s home in Waverly Sept. 17 on an overdose.

She said Spoor overdosed on morphine she’d taken while working as a nurse at Milder Manor in Lincoln. Pasold said investigators found syringes with liquids in them and cardboard blister packs with pills in them that Spoor had taken from various nursing jobs.

“She ultimately took responsibility for it,” Pasold said.

Spoor’s attorney, Christopher Furches, told District Court Judge Teresa Luther that his client has been sober since this incident and has completed mental health rehabilitation, as well as drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Spoor remains out on bond. Luther set Spoor’s sentencing for July 24.

According to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Spoor’s nursing license was revoked in February.
