It was another Nebraska gymnastics record for Emily Parsons Thursday night at the NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga.

She tied former Husker All-American Heather Brink with a career-high 11 All-America honors.

Parsons earned All-America honors on the balance beam and in the all-around.

The senior from St. Charles, Mo., had the first session’s top score on the balance beam, a 9.875. She finished eighth in the all-around with a 39.35, earning second-team honors.

Fellow Husker senior Desire’ Sniatynski  earned All-America honors on the uneven bars, tying for fourth with a 9.9.

Both Parsons and Sniatynski advance to Saturday’s individual-event finals.

NU junior Tricia Woo just missed qualifying for the finals, finishing ninth on beam (9.825) and 10th on floor (9.85). The top eight from the qualifying sessions advance.

“Tricia was just a whisker away from making finals on two events,” NU coach Dan Kendig said. “She worked so hard and has had a tremendous attitude all year long, and she’s had a great year.”

And Kendig was proud of Parsons and Sniatynski.

“Our individuals did a good job today,” Kendig said. “It was a tough order coming in here and competing without a team by their side.

“Emily did a great job in all four events this afternoon, and it was rewarding to see her and Desire’ have the opportunity to finish their careers in the event finals Saturday.”
