OMAHA — A 31-year-old Macy woman has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for second-degree murder in the stabbing death of her boyfriend.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Omaha says Janice Grant acknowledged stabbing 24-year-old Erasmo Porter last July in the chest with a kitchen knife. She had testified that that came toward her in a menacing way.

Prosecutors say the knife pierced Porter’s heart and liver, and he died of internal bleeding. Officials say evidence showed Grant had stabbed Porter on at least two previous occasions and had threatened to stab him on three other occasions.

The stabbing took place on the Omaha Indian Reservation, where Grant and Porter were both members of the Omaha Tribe.
