Nicks approved for pre-trial diversion

Nebraska football player Carl Nicks has been approved for pre-trial diversion.
The 22-year-old from Salinas, Calif., originally had been set to appear in court Friday on a case stemming from a party in March.
Instead, last week, prosecutors asked that his case be dismissed.
Shawn Stanczyk, program director with Diversion Services, confirmed Nicks was approved to participate in pre-trial diversion.
Police said Nicks was one of 10 party-goers, including four football players, cited March 8 after a call about a loud party at 3124 Mickaela Lane in northwest Lincoln.
Police ticketed Maurice Purify, 22; Ben Martin, 19; and Mike V. Smith, 20; and arrested Nicks, because of his out-of-state address. Nicks later was charged on suspicion of being an inmate of a disorderly house and failure to disperse.
Smith is set for court next week and Purify in May. Martin has not been charged.
