Comments: Millard West is gaining momentum, and takes over the top spot. The Wildcats scored three straight goals for a 4-2 overtime victory against Millard South, and dominated Lincoln Southwest before that.
Worth noting: Omaha Burke first-year coach Nick Bratt takes on his old school today. Bratt won two state championships as a player at Lincoln East.

9. Hastings (3-1) 8
10. Columbus Lakeview (3-2) -

Comments: No need for a tuneup for Omaha Skutt this season. Last year, the SkyHawks lost their first four games before winning the state title. Dating back to last season, Skutt has won 11 straight games. Columbus Scotus makes the biggest jump based on its win against Elkhorn.
Games to watch: Today—Gretna at Elkhorn. Saturday—Waverly at Lincoln Lutheran.
What a tournament: Saturday’s Lincoln Pius X Invitational schedule (at Abbott Sports Complex)—Kearney Catholic vs. Pius X, noon; Omaha Skutt vs. Columbus Scotus, noon. The championship game begins at 3 p.m.
CLASS A GIRLS
Team (record) Pvs.
1. Millard North (3-0) 2
2. Millard West (4-1) 1
3. Omaha Westside (4-0) 3
4. Omaha Marian (4-0) 4
5. Lincoln Southeast (3-0) 5

Contenders: Columbus, Omaha Burke.
Comments: The biggest game thus far was on the first day of the season, when Molly Thomas scored three goals to lead Millard North to a 3-0 victory against defending state champion Millard West. But the Wildcats haven’t given up a goal since, and a possible rematch in the Metro Conference Tournament or state tournament is already enticing.
Games to watch: Today—Lincoln Southwest at Columbus, Lincoln East at Omaha Burke. Monday—Millard North at Omaha Westside.

1. Omaha Skutt (6-0) 3
2. Elkhorn (5-1) 1

10. Kearney Catholic (2-0) -

Comments: Omaha Skutt takes the top spot after a narrow win against defending state champion Elkhorn in Week 1. The SkyHawks have been tested, too, with four wins against ranked foes. Skutt is led by Creighton recruit Kelly Connolly.
Games to watch: Today—Hastings at Kearney Catholic. Saturday—Elkhorn at Gretna.
What a tournament: Saturday’s Lincoln Pius X Invitational at Abbott Sports Complex includes four ranked teams. The schedule: Columbus Scotus vs. Pius X, noon; Omaha Skutt vs. Kearney Catholic, noon.
